Eddie and Peggy Welsh, owners of The Laundry Barn in Pocatello Idaho

Eddie and Peggy Welsh have lived in Pocatello for 19 years. Both graduates of ISU, they chose to settle down in Eastern Idaho because of the rich family-oriented culture the community possesses. Eddie graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in physical education and now works as an insulation contractor for USI. Peggy graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration. She teaches in the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District. They have two children who are active in school and sports throughout the community.

They both saw an immense need in the Old Town area of Pocatello for a laundromat. With no other laundromats on the west side of the railroad tracks, they noticed community members had to travel across town to meet their basic needs of laundering. This is especially difficult for those individuals who have no means of transportation or cannot financially afford the commute to other laundromats throughout the town. They purchased the building at 923 N. Arthur that was once used as an Insurance Claims office. With Eddie’s strong background in construction, he has created a unique, aesthetically pleasing laundromat. “We want a clean, safe, and locally developed laundromat where everyone can feel comfortable. Our children have purchased vending machines with their own money and are excited to go along with us on this new, exciting adventure.”

Another aspect of this new laundromat is the wash and fold business. The Pocatello community lacks a newly trending service of having your dirty laundry picked up, washed, dried, folded and returned in a timely fashion. “This service is useful for everyone! From busy families traveling from activity to activity to owners of Air BnBs, the help of completing this essential chore is beneficial. I know personally, many of my friends and family cannot wait to come use the laundromat for their large quilts, dogs beds, and laundry post-camping.”

The machines being used are the Electrolux brand Laundrylux. These are brand new, technologically smart machines. They are energy efficient using the lowest possible water, energy and detergent consumption. However, they still clean and dry more powerfully than any other brand of machine on the market now.
